Fans to participate in 2006 AFL award voting
April 18, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release
NEW YORK - For the fourth consecutive season, AFL fans will contribute towards selecting League award winners by voting online. Visitors to the League's official Web site - www.arenafootball.com - can vote immediately for seven individual awards.
Fans will be able to vote online for the following 2006 year-end honors:
* Ironman of the Year
* ADT Defensive Player of the Year
* Offensive Player of the Year
* Lineman of the Year
* Kicker of the Year
* Rookie of the Year
* Coach of the Year
The collective fan vote in each category will be calculated into the final count, which will include voting from players, head coaches and the media. The AFL is the only professional league to allow voting from all four groups to determine its awards. Voters will be limited to one choice per category with voting ending on Monday, May 15. The fan vote also will serve as the tie-breaker vote, if necessary.
