Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Alaska Aces will welcome United States Senators Ted Stevens and Lisa Murkowski when the club opens its home schedule tomorrow night at 7:15 p.m. before a sell-out crowd at Sullivan Arena.

Senator Stevens has represented Alaska for more than 30 years in the U.S. Senate and, as President Pro-Tem, is third in line for the Presidency of the United States. He will be at center ice along with his grandchildren to drop the ceremonial first puck at Friday night's home opener against San Diego. Senator Murkowski and her family also will be special guests of the Aces ownership group at Friday's game.

Alaska and San Diego will begin the season where the Gulls ended theirs last year, in front of a standing-room-only crowd at Sullivan Arena. Saturday night's game, which also begins at 7:15 p.m., is nearly sold out as well, with only 350 tickets remaining as of 2:00 p.m. Thursday. Plenty of tickets remain for Sunday's finale at 5:05 p.m., which marks the final time Alaska and its most recent signing, two-time Stanley Cup champion and former NHL Rookie of the Year Scott Gomez, will play in front of the home crowd until November 17 against Victoria.

The first 5,000 fans arriving tomorrow night will receive a GCI Magnetic Schedule, while the first 5,000 attendees Saturday will be making plenty of noise with their official Costco Thundersticks. The Aces are just 1-7-1 in home openers, with their last victory coming in 1996 against their old rivals from Fairbanks, the Gold Kings. Sunday's series finale marks the first of seven "Sunday Skate with the Aces" promotions, courtesy of KeyBank. The first 2,000 fans arriving Sunday will receive the official KeyBank Alaska Aces Autograph Book. All three games will be broadcast live on AM 750 KFQD and also can be seen on a pay-per-view basis at www.alaskaaces.com, courtesy of B2 Networks.
