Chiefs Sign Two Players; Kozoriz Released

Johnstown, PA- Johnstown Chiefs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Toby O'Brien announced today that they have signed forward Evgeny Lazarev and defenseman Paul Lynch. O'Brien also announced that they have waived forward John Kozoriz.

Lazarev, 24, has not played on American soil in three seasons. From 1998-2002, the 6'1, 220 LBS native of Kharkov, Ukraine played for the AHL's Hershey Bears. In 229 career games with Hershey, Lazarev had 63 goals and 121 points. His best season came in 2000-01 when he had 17 goals and 38 points in 80 games.

Lazerev played last season with Sokol Kiev in the Ukraine league. He was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the third round (79th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Lynch, 22, began this season with the University of Massachusetts Minutemen where he was scoreless in two games. The 6'3, 220 LBS native of Peabody, Mass., sat out the 2003-04 season after transferring from the University of Maine. In 32 career games over two seasons with the Black Bears, Lynch had two goals and nine points. Lynch was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the fifth round (138th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Kozoriz played in both of the Chiefs games this season scoring one goal.
