KEARNEY, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm's annual "Pack-It-In-Purple" game on Saturday against the Lincoln Stars will raise money for the United Way of the Kearney Area through an auction of game-worn jerseys that will occur after the game.

It is the 12th season that the Storm have teamed up United Way to kick off their seasonal campaign. The Storm's jersey auction has raised more than $155,000 for the United Way. Last season, the event brought in $14,595.

In past years, some player jerseys have been auctioned for as much as $2,000.

United Way of the Kearney Area exists to build a stronger community by uniting people who care with people who are in need. Through the services of its partner agencies, people find help during financial crisis, domestic abuse and disasters. Local families find support for helping children and youth succeed, supporting the aging population and helping people with special needs.

The dollars raised through the support of local businesses and individuals fund programs that annually serve a total of 25,000 clients in a six-county area, including Buffalo, Kearney, Phelps, Harlan, Franklin and Custer Counties.

All fans are encouraged to wear purple as part of the annual "Pack-It-In-Purple" night. Tickets can be purchased by calling 308.338.8011, online at www.stormhockey.com or by visiting the Viaero Event Center box office.

The Storm are home for both games this weekend, as they host the Sioux Falls Stampede Friday and Lincoln Saturday. ESPN Superstation 1460/1550 AM will air both games with the Viaero Wireless Pre-Game Shows start at 6:45 p.m. each night.
