D.C. United News Release

CHANTILLY, VA (April 7, 2004) - United for D.C, in conjunction with D.C. United, has created an opportunity for fans to bid for official, game-worn, autographed player jerseys throughout the course of the 2004 Major League Soccer season. After each home and away game, visitors to www.dcunited.com may vote on the D.C. United player who stood out as the "man of the match" from the past game. Each "MOM" player jersey will be autographed and auctioned off on-line to the highest bidder, with all proceeds going to benefit United for D.C.

"United for D.C. is excited to offer fans the opportunity to bid on authentic, autographed merchandise while at the time enabling them (the fans) to benefit a worthy cause," said Catherine Marquette, Executive Director of United for D.C. and Community & Fan Relations Director for D.C. United. "These Man of the Match auctions are a major part of United for D.C.'s fundraising efforts, and we greatly appreciate D.C. United's support in making these happen."

United fans spoke after this past weekend's home opener, April 3rd, when they voted on-line to name Jamie Moreno as the Man of the Match in the 2-1 victory over the 2003 MLS Cup Champions, San Jose Earthquakes. Moreno, who now wears number 99 on his back after re-signing with United prior to the opener, has autographed his first-half jersey, which will be auctioned off beginning today through Tuesday, April 13th.

For more information on the Man of the Match on-line jersey auction or any other United for D.C. initiative, please contact Catherine Marquette at 703-397-5443 or visit www.unitedfordc.org.
