CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union faced off against rivals New York Red Bulls on Tuesday night at Subaru Park in Round of 16 of the 2023 Leagues Cup, drawing 1-1. With the tie and win in post-regulation shootout, the Union advance to the Quarterfinals of the 2023 Leagues Cup. In the first half, Omir Fernandez opened the scoring for New York in the fourth minute. In the second half, Homegrown defender Nathan Harriel scored the equalizer with a header from the center of the box in the 68th minute. The Union converted four out of five of their shots from the penalty spot to advance to the 2023 Leagues Cup Quarterfinals.
The Union will return to Subaru Park where they will face Queretaro F.C. in the Quarterfinals of the 2023 Leagues Cup on Friday, August 11th (Time TBA).
