Ugly Night for Blacksnakes in Loss

ST. JOSEPH, MO-It was an ugly night at Phil Welch Stadium for the Blacksnakes. Sioux Falls (13-16, 29-48) scored 10 runs in the seventh inning for a 10-5 win over the Blacksnakes (14-15, 40-37) on a stormy night in St. Joe.

Mark Nussbeck and the Canaries' Matt Petrusek dueled scoreless until the offenses took over. St. Joe plated a run in the fifth and three in the sixth for a 4-0 lead. Ben Thomas delivered a key two-run double to open up the lead.

Mark Nussbeck was cruising, but things quickly turned when the first three reached knocking him from the game in the seventh. The Canaries not only tied the game but knocked St. Joe pitching around for 10 runs and 14 batters in the inning, including a stretch of four straight walks before Chris Hall hit a three-run double to take control, 10-4.

Ben Thomas had two doubles and two runs batted in for the Blacksnakes.

St. Joe heads up to St. Paul for a three-game series with the Saints with large playoff implications beginning Monday evening. Donovan Graves (7-4) will start for the Blacksnakes. The webcast begins at 6:45pm with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm at Midway Stadium.
