WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - In a game that saw a combined 12 walks, 22 men left on base, 23 strikeouts and took a season-high 3:26 to play, the Hudson Valley Renegades had enough juice to defeat the Vermont Lake Monsters 7-3 Thursday night at Dutchess Stadium in front of 4,226 fans. With the win, the Renegades took two of the three-game series and won the season-series from Vermont 6-3.

Hudson Valley started the scoring with two runs in the second. Rightfielder Hill Alexander led off with a walk, then came around to score on a double to right center by first baseman Jacson McGowan to put the Renegades on the board. After the next two batters were retired, designated hitter Pedro Diaz brought in McGowan by wrapping a single to left to make the score 2-0.

Wild Lake Monsters pitching then allowed the Renegades to take control of the game as they plated four runs on a single hit along with four walks in the third. Two walks and an error loaded the bases to start the inning before Alexander lobbed a two-run double into left centerfield. Another walk reloaded the bases, then a bases-loaded walk was issued to catcher Luis Trevino to force in the third run of the frame. Two batters later, with the bases still loaded, Diaz struck out however a wild pitch on the third strike by Vermont reliever Jorge Martinez scored Alexander from third and upped the Renegades' lead to 6-0.

Vermont had a chance to get back into the game in the seventh as three consecutive singles loaded the bases with one out. However, reliever Edisson Gonzalez got rightfielder Noah Vaughan and designated hitter Jordan Diaz on strikeouts to end the threat.

The Renegades scored their final run in the eighth. Leftfielder K.V. Edwards led off with a double down the leftfield line. After a groundout moved him to third, third baseman Nick Sogard roped a single to center to make the score 7-0.

Vermont scored three times in the ninth to make a game of it. A walk to catcher Jose Rivas and a bloop double by second baseman Yerdel Vargas put runners at second and third to start the inning. Centerfielder Michael Woodworth broke up the shutout by lacing a double to right center to pull the Lake Monsters to within five. Another walk later, Vermont had runners at first and second with nobody out. Renegades relief man Jose Roca came in and got a double-play ball to second as Woodworth advanced to third. After yet another walk, shortstop Logan Davidson lined a single to right center to plate the game's final run. Roca got the next batter, rightfielder Marty Bechina, to ground to second to end the game.

Getting the win in relief for Hudson Valley was Gonzalez (3-2) who tossed four shutout innings on four hits with six strikeouts. The loss fell to Vermont starter Jack Cushing (2-3) who allowed six runs on three hits over two-plus innings. He also walked four.
