Spinners Bats Kept in Check in Second Straight Game

July 25, 2019 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Lowell Spinners News Release

ABERDEEN, MD - Lowell Spinners, proud affiliate of the 2018 World Champion Boston Red Sox, continued to be in a rut as they lost their fourth straight game, the most consecutive games this season falling to the 4-1 to the Aberdeen Ironbirds, affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles in game two of their three game series.

Spinners (23-13), again saw their bats silenced by the Ironbirds pitching with compiling only two base hits on the night. They were able to get one run across when Nick Northcut scored on a passed-ball.

Ryan Zeferjahn took the mound tonight for the Spinners at Ripken Stadium. He only went 1.1 innings, giving up two hits and four earned runs. He gave up a two-run homerun in the bottom of the first to Toby Welk, his first career home run.

The short outing gave the Spinners bullpen plenty of action in tonight's game. Miguel Suero was strong in his three and two thirds innings pitched. While Jeremy Bleich and Anyelo Gomez combined for the final nine outs on the mound. All three did not allow a run.

Northcut was the Spinners most productive offensive player of the night. He reached base twice and scored the only run of the game. Gilberto Jimenez was the only other player to get a hit tonight, as he continues to be the hottest hitter on the team. He leads the team in average at .366.

The Spinners are back in action Thursday Night at 7:05 PM to close off the road series against the Ironbirds, in hope to take a game on the road and get back on track and end up in the win column.

The Lowell Spinners, proud affiliate of the 2018 World Champion Boston Red Sox, offer Season Ticket Packages, Mini-Plans, Group Sales, and Single Game Tickets.
