The Lone Star Brahmas' playoff schedule kicked off on Friday night against the dangerous Wenatchee Wild. The Brahmas closed out the regular season as the NAHLSouth Division Champions and received a bye into the first round while Wenatchee as the fifth seed had to earn their way in against the Corpus Christi Icerays.

Wenatchee broke through at 7:20 of the first off a broken play in front leaving Brendan Harris at the top of the paint with the puck on his stick. Harris put it past Jake Kupsky'sleft pad with an assist to Jake Ahlgren. The Brahmas had a few scoring chances late, but the Wild made the one goal lead stand up as the horn sounded.

Lone Star made a bid to knot thing up at the 9:30 mark of the second whenSebastian Vidmar teed one up for Oskar Andren just outside the paint but Zach Quinn made an unbelievable save to preserve the lead. Ludvig Larsson finally put one past Quinn with 5:31 to go in the middle frame after Andren took a pass from Vidmar and went streaking into the zone. Andren drew defenseman Chris Jones to him then slid it across to Larsson trailing the play and he deked Quinn then put it over the blocker.

With about eight minutes gone in the final frame, a turn over deep in the Brahmas' zone resulted in Mike Coyne having a pointblank chance, but Kupsky was more than a match snapping it out of the air with the glove. Andren was robbed once again with just over eight minutes remaining this time it was an accidental save as Quinn had no idea he had the puck until the whistle sounded.

After an exciting back and forth third period and an even more dramatic first overtime the teams remained deadlocked at one apiece due to outstanding play by both netminders. When the second overtime commenced the Brahmas had a look of determination about them. With just over six minutes gone, Pat Egan carried the puck into the zone and gave it up to Chad Guderianwho ripped one net. Quinn made the initial save, but the puck jumped straight up and came to rest just off the right post. That is where Roman Uchyn slapped it over Quinn's right pad for the game winner.

Wenatchee outshot the Brahmas 36 - 30 and both teams were scoreless on the power play with the Brahmas 0 - 3 and the Wild 0 - 4. The win sets up a big game two on short rest for both squads, though the Brahmas will likely sleep a bit better after the monumental character win.
