U-15 and U-17 Teams Ready to Kick off MLS NEXT Cup
June 24, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami CF Academy's U-15 and U-17 teams will kick off their MLS NEXT Cup campaigns this weekend just weeks after all our Academy teams finished first in their respective MLS NEXT divisions. Our Academy's U-15 and U-17 teams will now travel to the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas to compete with other top MLS NEXT academies in playoffs.
The tournament will feature 32 top MLS NEXT academies who qualified for the event through their league standings or the MLS NEXT Flex event in each age group.
U-15 Academy Team
Our U-15 team will kickoff the MLS NEXT Cup playoffs by facing the New England Revolution on Saturday, June 25 at 9 a.m. CT. A win would see the team advance to take on the winner of a match between the Cedar Stars Academy and Solar SC in a Round of 16 clash on Sunday, June 26 at 5 p.m. CT.
Tournament Schedule
- Round of 32 - Saturday, June 25 at 9 a.m. CT
- Round of 16 - Sunday, June 26 at 5 p.m. CT
- Quarterfinals - Tuesday, June 28 at 9 a.m. CT
- Semifinals - Thursday, June 30 at 5 p.m. CT
- Final - Saturday, July 2 at 7 p.m. CT
The U-15 team arrived to this point, qualifying for playoffs, by thriving in one of the toughest divisions in MLS NEXT. The team, coached by Victor Pastora, finished with 10 more overall points than the second-place team in its division, Orlando City SC.
U-17 Academy Team
On Sunday, June 26 at 9 a.m. CT, the U-17 team will have the opportunity to shine in its opening playoffs match versus in-state rival Orlando City SC. If the team wins, it will advance to face the winner of a match between the Barcelona Residency Academy and the San Jose Earthquakes on Monday, June 27 at 5 p.m. CT.
Tournament Schedule
- Round of 32 - Sunday, June 26 at 9 a.m. CT
- Round of 16 - Monday, June 27 at 5 p.m. CT
- Quarterfinals - Wednesday, June 29 at 9 a.m. CT
- Semifinals - Friday, July 1 at 7 p.m. CT
- Final - Sunday, July 3 at 7 p.m. CT
The U-17s arrived to this point by finishing first in the U-17 East (South) Division in 2022, excelling a tough MLS NEXT division packed with strong MLS academies. The U-17 team garnered 29 points in just 14 matches.
More than 20 games throughout MLS NEXT Cup will be streamed live on Twitch and YouTube.
