Halifax Thunderbirds News Release
HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - The Halifax Thunderbirds are proud to announce Tyson Geick, Thunderbirds Director of Communications and Sideline Reporter for Thunderbirds' home game broadcasts, and Pat Gregoire, Colour Commentator for Thunderbirds' home game broadcasts, are finalists for the 2022 NLL Tom Borrelli Award.
The Tom Borrelli Award is given to the NLL's media person of the year. The award is named for Tom Borrelli (1957-2008), a writer for The Buffalo News, who is a member of National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame (2007).
Both Geick and Gregoire were regular guests on the NLL's weekly show Coast to Coast with Devan Kaney, and have worked around the clock promoting the sport across multiple platforms and mediums.
"We are excited to see both Tyson and Pat receive recognition across the league," said Thunderbirds President and CEO, John Catalano. "Tyson has been a great addition to the Thunderbirds Family and along with our media team, has worked tirelessly on bringing our fans unprecedented access to the team. Pat has been a part of our Thunderbirds Family since year one and we are so happy he is part of our broadcast team. His passion for the sport shows in everything he does and is why fans love tuning in to see him."
Geick, who won the Borrelli Award in 2019, was hired as the Thunderbirds' Director of Communications and Sideline Reporter ahead of the 2021-22 season. Geick shot, produced, and narrated the weekly show Thunderbirds 360, giving fans unparalleled access behind the scenes before, during, and after Thunderbirds games.
Gregoire wrapped up his second season with the Thunderbirds as the Colour Commentator for all home broadcasts. He also served as the Colour Commentator for the TSN NLL Game of the Week and the NLL Finals. Gregoire also serves as the Co-Host of the OTCB Podcast with Teddy Jenner. This is his first time being nominated for the prestigious award.
The 2022 NLL End of Season Awards will be announced the week of June 27.
