NLL Names Five Panther City Lacrosse Club Members Award Finalists

June 22, 2022 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Panther City Lacrosse Club News Release

FORT WORTH, TX - The National Lacrosse League announced the three finalists for each end of season award for the 2021-22 regular season. Panther City Lacrosse Club had five members of the organization represented among the finalists including, President, CEO & Managing Partner Greg Bibb (Executive of the Year), Vice President of Lacrosse Operations & General Manager Bob Hamley (General Manager of the Year), Head Coach Tracey Kelusky (Lee Bartley Award - Head Coach of the Year), Forward Patrick Dodds (Rookie of the Year) and Transition Player Jeremy Thompson (Teammate of the Year).

President, CEO & Managing Partner, Greg Bibb, was named an Executive of the Year finalist after acquiring and launching the NLL's 14th member club. He developed Panther City Lacrosse Club's brand identity and secured a multi-year lease at the state-of-art Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Bibb also brought on the largest partnership in NLL history with Play Up!, and hired General Manager of the Year candidate Bob Hamley and Coach of the Year candidate Tracey Kelusky.

Vice President of Lacrosse Operations & General Manager, Bob Hamley, was named a General Manager of the Year Finalist after drafting or acquiring four rookies who finished in the top-20 in rookie points, including Rookie of the Year nominee Patrick Dodds, despite taking a player who wouldn't join the club until the 2022-23 season with the number one overall pick (Jonathan Donville - Maryland). His addition of forward's Cam Milligan and Dean Fairall mid-season helped turn Panther City from one of the lowest-rated Power Play units into one of the best in the league (65.7% with both on the floor).

Head Coach, Tracey Kelusky, was named a Coach of the Year finalist after the Peterborough, Ontario native led Panther City to more wins than the previous two NLL expansion clubs' first seasons combined, as Panther City won 7 games in their inaugural season, including a five-game winning streak. He adjusted mid-season to make Panther City one of the NLL's most potent offenses, especially on the man advantage, as the team finished in the top half in the league on the power play and on the penalty kill. Kelusky's offense also recorded the highest scoring output in the NLL in 2021-22 as they team recorded 20 goals against the eventual 2021-22 NLL Champions, the Colorado Mammoth, on March 11.

Forward Patrick Dodds was named a Rookie of the Year finalist and was second among NLL rookies with a team-high 84 points on 26 goals and 58 assists. He scored the first game-winning goal in Panther City history at New York on January 15 and would go on to tally six or more points in five-straight games from February 20 to March 19, including an incredible 11-point outing against the Colorado Mammoth on March 11, where he tallied five of Panther City's 20 goals against the 2022 NLL Champions.

Transition Player Jeremy Thompson was been named a finalist for the Teammate of the Year Award. Thompson just wrapped his 10th year in the league and is largely considered one of the most prominent leaders and selfless teammates as he routinely would play both sides of the ball, depending on where the team needed him most. In Panther City's inaugural season, he was named an Assistant Captain. Thompson was usually the last one to leave the floor as he was interacting with fans and was a steady member of team-led community activities.

The top three vote getters for each award are listed as finalists and the award winners will be announced over the course of the week of June 27. All awards were voted on prior to the start of the 2022 playoffs and were based on regular season statistics and performances.
