SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - San Rafael starter Tyler Pearson continued his impressive return from Tommy John surgery, pitching eight innings, striking out seven as the San Rafael Pacifics beat the Sonoma County Grapes 4-1 at Albert Park on Wednesday night.
Pearson (4-0), who suffered a minor setback in his final start of the preseason and has been working his way back to full strength, continued a string of solid outings, winning his fourth consecutive start for first-place San Rafael (31-20).
First baseman Johnny Woodard went 1 for 3 with his team-leading ninth home run of the season, Maikel Jova (2 for 4) and Chase Fontaine (2 for 4, run) bolstered the offense for San Rafael. Matt Stabelfeld picked up save No. 4 with a perfect ninth inning.
