Tyler Ludwig Wins Most Outstanding Defenseman Award

Allen, Texas - The Central Hockey League handed out its Most Outstanding Defenseman Award today and Allen's Tyler Ludwig claimed the honor.

Tyler Ludwig is in his third season with the Allen Americans. The native of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, is having his best season as a pro, with 20 goals and 32 assists for 52 points to lead all defenseman in scoring in the CHL. He is tied for second overall on the Americans active roster, right behind rookie forward Spencer Asuchak, who has 53 points, and he leads the Americans in power play goals with 12.

He is in his fifth season as pro. Prior to Allen, Ludwig played a season with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL, and four years of college hockey at Western Michigan University. He has nine games of American Hockey League action under his belt with the Texas Stars, Houston Aeros and the San Antonio Rampage.

This is the first time Ludwig has won this award, finishing runner up last season, and the first Allen defenseman in five years to claim this title. Tyler was named a part of the ALL-CHL Team earlier this week.
