Tyler Currier Loaned to Utica

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that forward Tyler Currier has been loaned to the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Currier, 27, heads to the AHL for his second stint this season. In his last trip, Currier recorded his first career AHL goal and assist while earning first star honors in his AHL debut with the Springfield Falcons. The 6-foot-2 205-pound forward led the Jackals with 21 goals this season and finished fifth on the team with 35 points. Currier had a career year with Elmira, setting new personal highs in goals (21), assists (14), points (35), penalty minutes (70) and plus-minus rating (+5). He also finished tied for second on the team with four power-play goals. Currier has accrued 62 points (34 goals, 28 assists) and 183 penalty minutes in 154 professional games between the Jackals, Springfield Falcons, Missouri Mavericks and the Alaska Aces.

Prior to turning pro, the Anchorage, Alaska native skated for his hometown school at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. He appeared in 103 NCAA games for the Seawolves registering 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) and 116 penalty minutes. Currier was voted the Leon Thompson Fan Favorite by his hometown UAA fans.
