Ty Jackson's Overtime Winner Stops Stampede

Ty Jackson scored 1:01 into the overtime period and the Dubuque Fighting Saints were able to grab two points against the Sioux Falls Stampede on Saturday night in Sioux Falls. The Saints gained four of a possible six points over the three-game weekend and head in to December with just three loses in regulation.

-Ty scored on a feed from Dylan Jackson, something that has been reversed much of the early season. The Jackson twins hopped on the ice after Aidan Fulp, Mark Cheremeta and Jimmy Glynn started the overtime period with sustained zone time. Ty quickly took a feed from Dylan in the slot and buried it.

-Aidan McCarthy continues to shine in net for Dubuque as he posted his fourth win in five tries. The Saints backup has only been a backup in the sense of playing time. In terms of quality of play he has been as good as a starter when Dubuque has thrust him in the net. McCarthy made 27 stops in the game.

-Twice, the Dubuque Fighting Saints scored to take a lead and twice the Stampede answered. Sioux Falls was relentless, especially in period three. The Stampede equalized but were unable to get the game winner in the third.

-The Saints penalty kill was key in the game, killing off all three Stampede power plays, including a full five-minute major. Riese Gaber took a boarding call late in the second that knocked him out of the game with a match penalty.

-Not only did the Saints keep Sioux Falls off the board on the five-minute power play, but they scored a goal to boot. Antonio Venuto and Robert Cronin teamed up on a pretty passing play with Venuto tucking in the return feed from Cronin for his sixth of the season.

-With the assist on Ty's goal, Dylan joined his brother as the only two players on the team to have 20 points or more. Ty leads the way with 21 and Dylan is one behind with 20.

-With the two points, Dubuque tied the USHL Tier-1 record for fewest regulation loses to end the month of November. In total, Dubuque has four loses, three in regulation. They continue to push forward on one of the best starts to a USHL season.

-Next up for Dubuque, two at home. The Fighting Saints host the Muskegon Lumberjacks for a two-game series at the Mystique Community Ice Center on December 6th and 7th. Dubuque defeated Muskegon 4-1 to kick off the USHL season at the Fall Classic and have not faced the lumberjacks since.
