Rome Emperors News Release

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves completed a three game sweep of the Augusta GreenJackets Wednesday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium before 2,038 fans. This is the first series sweep for the Braves this season. The Braves led things off with a first inning run on back to back doubles by Kyle Kubitza and Sergio Miranda for the 1-0 score. The Augusta bats would be silenced by Braves starter Greg Ross, giving up only two hits and no runs until the fifth inning. The GreenJackets would plate their only run in the top of the fifth. Alberto Robles reached on an error and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, before scoring on a Jesus Galindo RBI single to tie the game 1-1. The game would be knotted at one until a Braves rally in the eighth. After two walks, a sacrifice bunt and a balk, Kubitza singled to third to score two runs and give the Braves a 3-1 lead. The GreenJackets would threaten in the ninth, but would fail to score as John Cornely sealed Augusta's fate by striking out the side and giving the Braves the victory.

Jarrett Miller (1-0) would record his first win for the Braves, after coming on in the seventh inning to relieve Ross. Augusta's Steven Neff (0-1) is charged with the loss.

The Braves welcome the Asheville Tourists to town for a five game series opening Thursday in a doubleheader beginning at 5 PM. For ticket information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
