Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC -- MiLB.com, the official website of Minor League Baseball, has launched MiLB.com Mascot Mania, an interactive tournament allowing fans to choose the best mascot in Minor League Baseball, and the Charleston RiverDogs' loveable mascot, Charlie T. RiverDog, is among the nation's best.
Voting for Round One begins this week and runs through Tuesday, May 29. Five additional rounds will follow before the fans' choice as the "Best Mascot in Minor League Baseball" is crowned on Tuesday, June 19, the same date as the 53rd Annual South Atlantic League All-Star Game that the RiverDogs are hosting. Fans are encouraged to cast their vote now at www.milb.com/mascotmania.
Charlie T. RiverDog's first-round challenger is Sammy the Seagull, who represents the Corpus Christi Hooks.
"Charlie T. RiverDog is clearly one of the best mascots around," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "He is one of this city's best ambassadors, and we're hoping that all who love Charlie will take a moment and vote for him. We'd love to see him voted as the champion on the same day we host the All-Star Game."
