Two RailHawks Honored by USL
July 15, 2008 - USL First Division (USL-1)
North Carolina FC News Release
Cary, NC (Tuesday, July 15, 2008)- Carolina RailHawks midfielder Santiago Fusilier and newly acquired forward Hamed Diallo were honored by the USL for their performances in Minnesota and Vancouver. Fusilier found the back of the net during the RailHawks 2-2 draw in Minnesota. Diallo provided the assist to Fusilier as well as another assist to Dan Antoniuk in Vancouver.
Diallo, having just been acquired from Rochester, tallied his two assists in his first two appearances as a RailHawk. Diallo came to Carolina when the RailHawks sent forward Jamil Walker to Rochester on July 9. Fusilier's goal was his second of the season.
"Both players had a tremendous weekend," said RailHawks Head Coach Scott Schweitzer. "Santiago has made huge strides as a pro in just one year as he keeps learning this league's style of play. As Diallo becomes more comfortable with us and we learn more of his tendencies, he will become more effective which is a scary thought for the teams who face us."
RailHawks fans will have their first opportunity to see Diallo in action when the RailHawks return home to host the Puerto Rico Islanders Friday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, July 20 the RailHawks will host the Mexican Premier Divisions' Rayados de Monterrey in an international friendly at 4:00 p.m. Following men's match the RailHawk Women will host the Richmond Kickers Destiny in the final match of their inaugural season. Tickets for all these events can be purchased at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859 KICK (5425), at all Ticketmaster outlets, or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com. To accommodate high demand for the Monterrey match and other RailHawks events the LGFCU Box Office at WakeMed Soccer Park will run extended hours this week.
