Two players selected at Mercury Open Tryouts to practice with team in pre-training camp workouts

PHOENIX -The Phoenix Mercury will host Kalei Nance and Ieshia Randall at two pre-training camp workouts with the Mercury from 10 a.m. - noon on Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15 at the US Airways Center after being selected in the Mercury Open Tryouts on May 2.

"Kalei and Ieshia were selected because of their skills and determination to strengthen their game," said Head Coach Corey Gaines. "Opportunity is what the WNBA is all about and we are thrilled to allow the players to showcase their talent at a workout and help them continue to develop as players and reach for their goal of playing in the WNBA."

Nance, a 6-0 forward, most recently played for the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The 2005 graduate of Desert Vista High School in Ahwatukee was a member of the basketball, volleyball and track teams and is also the niece of 18-year NBA veteran, Alton Lister.

Randall, a 5-2 guard, averaged 12.4 points and 5.1 assists per game and ranked third in the nation in assists during the 2007-08 season at Graceland University, a division II school in Iowa. She graduated in 2008 with a bachelor's of science in wellness management.

The Phoenix Mercury tips off the 2009 season on Saturday, June 6 vs. the San Antonio Silver Stars. Tickets for the home opener are on sale now and start at just $10.
