Green Bay Gamblers News Release
The Green Bay Gamblers won two out of three games this past week. The Gamblers started the week with a 3-0 road win over Chicago on Tuesday night, stayed hot on Friday with a 3-2 SO win at the Resch Center over Indiana, and rounded the weekend with a 8-2 setback to the Indiana Ice at the Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis, Indiana.
With their two wins the Gamblers improved to 19-16-3 on the 2005-06 campaign, which places them in third place in the USHL Eastern Division.
Green Bay goaltender Eddie Neville recorded his second shutout in his last three starts making 31 saves to lead the Gamblers to a 3-0 win over the Chicago Steel on Tuesday night at the Edge Sports Arena in Bensenville, Illinois.
Green Bay jumped on top when center-man Brian Roloff, from the slot found the back of the net at the 13:04 mark of the first period.
The Gamblers added a pair of goals in the second period, as Sergio Somma tallied a power play goal (7:23) and Eric Gryba netted his first of the season (17:06).
On Friday night Green Bay in front of 6,025 at the Resch Center won their fifth straight with a 3-2 shootout win over the Indiana Ice.
Neville was again the hero making 39 saves.
Offensively the Gamblers got a pair of second period goals from Kevin Deeth (:58) and Roloff (6:21/PP).
Indiana tallied the equalizer late in the third period on a John Kemp power play goal (15:48).
In the shootout, Deeth and Kurt Davis beat Ice goaltender Steve Jakiel and Neville stopped Michal Borovansky, Todd McIlrath, Eddie Del Grosso, and Lucas Klimek to secure the win.
On Saturday the Gamblers five-game winning streak came to a halt as Indiana on the strength of six power play goals handed Green Bay a 8-2 loss at the Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Roloff tallied his team high 20th and 21st goals of the season in the loss.

Goaltender Eddie Neville is tied for the league lead in shutouts (4). Neville, who was acquired from the Omaha Lancers in early January, is 4-1-0 in his five starts with the Gamblers. Along with posting 1.89 goals against average and a .946 save percentage, Neville also has two shutouts and two assists in his brief tenure with Green Bay.

The forward line of Sean Backman, Kevin Deeth, and Brian Roloff has combined for 103 points this season. Deeth is tops on the team in scoring (38 points), Roloff leads the club in goals with (21) and Backman ranks second on the club in goals (19) and points (33). The threesome also has a combined plus/minus rating of +41.
TRADE WINDS
The Gamblers acquired defenseman Bobby Reiners from the Lincoln Stars in exchange for defenseman Chris Stansik. Reiners (10/30/87) appeared in 24 games with the Stars recording one assist. In two seasons with the Gamblers, Stansik appeared in 84 games, registering 21 points and a plus/minus rating of +9.
INJURY REPORT
Rookie defenseman Eric Gryba missed Saturday night's game with a leg injury. Gryba, who sustained the injury in the third period of Friday's game verse Indiana, is questionable for Tuesday night's game verse Chicago. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native has appeared in 37 games this season, accumulating 10 points, a team high 107 minutes in penalties, and a +12 plus/minus rating.

The Green Bay Gamblers and the libraries in Brown County are teaming up this winter to form the Winter Reading Club. The program kicks off on Wednesday, January 25 at the Central Library at 6:30 PM. Members of the Gamblers and the team mascot "Gus" will be on site to read books. ALL STAR SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED
Former NHL forward Dave Gagner and University of North Dakota head coach Dave Hakstol to speak at 2006 USHL Top Prospects/All Star Banquet in Sioux City, Iowa.
Gagner's hockey career took him on a lengthy journey through the hockey world both professionally and non-professionally since his birth on December 11, 1964. Gagner is a former NHL first round draft pick, played for 6 different NHL teams, and was a member of the 1984 Canadian Olympian team.
In his fist year as head coach at the University of North Dakota, Hakstol directed the Fighting Sioux to a national runner-up finish and in the process further established the UND coaching staff as one of the top college hockey coaching staffs in the nation. After UND's impressive 2005 postseason run that included a 4-1 mark in the WCHA playoffs and 3-1 in the NCAA playoffs, Hakstol was named one of nine national finalists for the American Hockey Coaches Association's Spencer Penrose Award, given annually to the NCAA Division I Men's Ice hockeyCoach of the Year. He later was one of three coaches named as runner-up for the prestigious award.

Mike Kramer - Lincoln Stars
Mike Kramer of the Lincoln Stars has been named USHL/LPH Offensive Player of the Week. Kramer had three goals, all coming Tuesday night, and added two assists while leading the Stars to three wins during the week. Kramer had seven shots on goal and finished the week plus five.

Alex Stalock - Cedar Rapids RoughRiders
RoughRiders Goaltender Alex Stalock has been named USHL/LPH Defensive Player of the Week. Last year's playoff MVP had a stellar week. While earning a shut-out win and a shoot-out loss, Stalock stopped 84 of 86 shots to post a save percentage of .977, allowing only one goal per game. On the season Stalock is a steady 17-7-1-2 with a 2.21 GAA and a .937 save percentage.

JONES HEADED BACK TO SAN ANTONIO
Phoenix Coyotes Executive Vice President and General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have reassigned defenseman Matt Jones (99-01) to the San Antonio Rampage - the Coyotes' top minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Jones, 22, has registered one assist and 10 penalty minutes (PIM) in 13 games with the Coyotes this season. The 6-foot, 215-pound blueliner has been called up to the Coyotes on three occasions this season. Jones recorded his first NHL point on Jan. 14 with an assist in the Coyotes' 4-3 win at Toronto.
In 28 games with San Antonio this season, Jones has collected 7 assists and 22 PIM. Earlier this month, the native of Downers Grove, Illinois was named to the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star Team for the 2006 AHL All-Star Classic to be played on in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
Jones was drafted by the Coyotes (3rd round, 80th overall) in the 2002 Entry Draft.
GREENE NAMED TO AHL ALL STAR TEAM
The American Hockey League (AHL) announced the 24-man PlanetUSA roster for the upcoming 2006 RBK Hockey AHL All-Star Classic at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba and the squad included Edmonton Oilers defenseman and former Green Bay Gambler Matt Greene (01-02).
A native of Grand Ledge, Michigan, Greene was selected to the PlanetUSA roster by a committee of AHL coaches and is one of 19 first-time members on the PlanetUSA roster. The rookie defenseman has skated in 26 games for the Iowa Stars this season, notching two goals, five assists and 47 penalty minutes.
The first-year professional was drafted by the Oilers with their fourth choice, 44th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-3, 223-pound blueliner is currently on recall to Edmonton (NHL). He has appeared in nine games, registering 23 penalty minutes, including his first NHL fight against NHL veteran Todd Simpson (1,331 career NHL PIM's) on January 3rd.
The PlanetUSA team is comprised of players born outside of Canada. The Canadian AHL All-Star Team will be announced on Thursday.
