Two Late Runs Propel Bees to Third Straight Win

(Clinton-IA) Two late runs help the Bees win their third in a row, taking the series finale over the Clinton LumberKings, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon.

Victor Alcantara sat down the first six he faced before a double by Joe DeCarlo in the third. With two outs and a runner at third base, Aaron Barbosa reach on an infield single, giving Clinton a 1-0 lead.

Alcantara worked six innings, allowing just one run on three hits and struck out three but did not factor into the decision.

Trevor Gretzky tied the game at one in the seventh inning, blasting his second homer of the season, both coming in the series.

With the bases loaded in the eighth inning, a pitch hit Zach Houchins, driving in Erick Salcedo, giving the Bees the eventual game-winning run.

Ronnie Muck (1-0) worked an inning and a third, picking up the win. LumberKings' reliever, Tyler Herb, (1-1) was charged with the loss while Alan Busenitz (15) picked up the save.

The Burlington Bees (61-57) are off on Monday but return home Tuesday night starting a three game series with the Peoria Chiefs at 6:30 PM. Angels first rounder and 15th overall pick, Sean Newcomb makes the start for the Bees against Alex Reyes of Peoria.
