
Two-For-One Deal Brings Goal Scoring Leader to Fayetteville

Fayetteville, N.C - On the heels of the coaching change, the Fayetteville Marksmen have announced a trade with the Macon Mayhem, sending Dakota Klecha to the Mayhem in exchange for SPHL goal-scoring leader, Darren McCormick and forward Paul Russel, the team announced on Wednesday.
Klecha, 26, is in his third season of professional hockey, and second of North American professional hockey, appeared in 10 games for the Marksmen, registering eight goals and one assist since joining the team on January 24 in a trade with Peoria.
McCormick, 24, comes to the Marksmen as the goal-scoring leader, having notched 22 markers through 38 games of action with the Mayhem. Technically a rookie, the native of Buffalo, New York began his pro career last season, suiting up for two games with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL, and seven games with the Huntsville Havoc.
Before turning pro, the 5-foot-11, 170-pound center skated for three seasons (2014-17) with the SUNY-Cortland Dragons of the NCAA Division 3. In 75-games with the Dragons, McCormick averaged over one point-per-game, totaling 93 points (43G, 50A).
Russell,24, is coming to his third team after starting this season with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs before being traded to the Mayhem in a deal on December 11,2017. In 37 games this season, the native of Andover, Massachusetts has total 11 points (5G, 6A), with nine of those points coming with the Mayhem.
The rookie played four seasons at Norwhich University, before turning pro. In 106 games with the Cadets, the 5-foot-8, 161-pound forward registered 60 points (37G, 23A).
