Springfield Falcons News Release

Springfield, Mass. – Lord Stanley's Cup arrives in Springfield on Friday along with the masterminds behind the Tampa Bay Lightning squad that won the legendary chalice last season. The Stanley Cup will be on display at a mid-day luncheon at the Springfield Marriott and at the Springfield Civic Center for a special pre-game photo opportunity for Falcons' ticket plan holders and later for all fans in attendance at the Falcons' game against the Portland Pirates.

The luncheon will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the Marriott and will feature Lightning executive vice president and general manager Jay Feaster as the guest speaker. The entire Lightning coaching staff, including head coach John Tortorella, will also be in attendance at the luncheon. Last season, Feaster was named the NHL Executive of the Year by The Sporting News while Tortorella won the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's Coach of the Year. The Lightning won the Stanley Cup last season by winning four NHL playoff series including a seven-game Stanley Cup Finals victory over the Calgary Flames.

The Stanley Cup will be relocated to the Civic Center for a special pre-game photo event for Falcons' ticket plan holders. Season ticket and flex pack holders will be able to enter the Civic Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. A hat trick card and ticket to Friday's game are both required for early admittance.

Civic Center doors will open to the general public at 6:30 p.m. A game ticket is needed to be admitted to the arena.

While situated at the Civic Center, the Stanley Cup will be displayed at the new bar located behind Section 13 and near the southeast corner of the concourse.

Professional photographer Michael Beecher will be on hand during the pre-game ticket holder event and through the second intermission of the game to take pictures of fans with the Stanley Cup. Photos can be ordered for $15 each. Fans are permitted to bring their own cameras.

Game time for Friday's contest versus Portland is 7:35 p.m.
