
Tulsa Roughnecks Fall to Real Monarchs SLC 1-3

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Roughnecks hosted Real Monarchs on Saturday, June 29th at ONEOK Field. The Tulsa Roughnecks were looking to pick up points at home for the sixth time this season.
The match began quickly with Rodrigo Da Costa, in the 7th minute, capitalizing off a Real Monarchs mistake. His first touch took him into the box and second put the ball past the keeper. It was then that Masta Kacher equalized the score with a cleanup goal off a blocked shot in the 17th minute. Real Monarchs were quick to strike again as in the 21st minutes, Konrad Plewa put his head on the end of a corner kick that bounced across the face of the goal, giving Real Monarchs the 2-1 lead. The Tulsa Roughnecks had a chance with a dangerous free kick late in the half, but were unsuccessful, leaving the score 2-1.
The second half began quickly as Real Monarchs' Douglas Martinez struck a shot from outside the box that buried itself into the bottom corner in the 50th minute. Tulsa Roughnecks controlled possession for the majority of the rest of the half coming up with a few chances to cut the lead to one, but were unsuccessful. The match ended with the Tulsa Roughnecks falling to Real Monarchs.
The Tulsa Roughnecks are away from home next week as they travel to Oregon to take on Timbers 2 July 6th.
