June 29, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Nashville SC News Release

CARY - With the opening kickoff against North Carolina FC in Cary, Nashville SC defender Darnell King made history by making his 200th professional appearance.

He is the fourth Nashville SC player to play in more than 200 professional matches, joining defenders Justin Davis and Kosuke Kimura and goalkeeper Matt Pickens.

A native of Tampa, Florida, King began his professional career with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the NASL in 2012. In three seasons in Fort Lauderdale, he scored five goals and added eight assists from the back line. He moved on to his hometown Tampa Bay Rowdies in 2015 where he played in front of his future Nashville teammate in Pickens.

King moved with Tampa Bay from the NASL to the USL Championship in 2017, but left the club in 2018 to sign with San Antonio FC. He had a stellar season in San Antonio, scoring three goals with five assists. Those numbers put him on Nashville SC's radar, who signed him ahead of the 2019 season.

So far this season, King has made nine appearances, including a pair of starts in a more central defense role over the last two matches.
