Coach's Show Tonight: The weekly Tulsa Oilers Coach's Show returns to El Chico Caf̮̩ (71st and Mingo) tonight from 6:30-7:30pm. Oilers broadcaster Rob Loeber will be joined by Head Coach Bruce Ramsay along with defenseman, Eric Tallent and goalie, Shane Madolora.
Food Drive: All Oilers fans are encouraged to support the Whataburger Holiday Food Drive tomorrow night at the BOK Center. Each fan who brings a donation of canned or non-perishable food items to Tuesday's game will receive a voucher for one free Whataburger tacquito (limit one per customer).
Week In Review: The Oilers picked up their first home win of the season on Wednesday with a 4-0 drubbing of Wichita and extended their win streak to four games with a pair of victories over St. Charles on Friday and Saturday. In their first meeting of the season with the rival Thunder, the Oilers got two goals from Brandon Coccimiglio and limited Wichita to just 17 shots on goal. Shane Madolora recorded his first shutout of the season as Tulsa cruised to its largest margin of victory over the Thunder since a 5-1 triumph on February 19, 2011. Friday at the BOK Center, the Oilers built a 4-0 lead only to watch the Chill battle back with three unanswered goals. Adam Pleskach provided the Oilers with a much needed insurance tally late in the third period and Tulsa hung on for 6-4 victory in their first ever meeting with the expansion Chill. The Oilers completed a weekend sweep of St. Charles with a 3-2 shootout win on Saturday. Drew Fisher netted the game-winner in the sixth round of the shootout as the Oilers earned their fourth consecutive win.
Still Soaring: In three home games last week, the Oilers second line trio of Adam Pleskach (RW), Kyle Bochek (C), and Brandon Coccimiglio (LW), combined for 16 points and a collective +19 rating. Pleskach, on a six-game point streak, led the way with four goals and three assists. The Manitoba native has scored a goal in four straight contests and leads the team in goals (6) and points (12). Coccimiglio, the fourth-year pro out of Burlington, Ontario, is also riding a six-game point streak and chipped in two goals and three assists last week. Bochek recorded four helpers in his last three games and is tied for second on the team with seven assists.
Streak Snapped: Ben Gordon was held off the stat sheet on Saturday night and saw his CHL-long seven-game point streak come to an end. Gordon, who recorded his 300th career point with an assist against Wichita on Wednesday, has posted 11 points in 11 games this season and leads the Oilers with 47 shots on goal.
Shootout Stopper: In six career shootouts as a professional, Oilers goaltender Shane Madolora has a 5-1 record. The second-year pro stopped three of the five St. Charles attempts in Saturday's six-round shootout.
Crooked Number: Tulsa's six goal output on Friday night was the franchise's highest goal total in the last 32 games. The Oilers only reached the six-goal plateau once during the 2012-13 campaign.
Power Pla y Ups and Downs : The Oilers went 2-for-5 on the power play on Friday, their first game of the season with multiple power play goals. Saturday night against the Chill, the Oilers were blanked on ten power play opportunities and are now ranked eighth in the CHL with an 11-percent success rate with the man-advantage.
Save That Puck: Rookie forward Blair Macaulay scored his first professional goal on Friday, a power play marker in the first period. The 25-year old out of the University of Manitoba took a pass on the tape from Adam Pleskach and flipped the puck past St. Charles goalie, Mathieu Corbeil. Scott Macaulay, Blair's younger brother, picked up the second assist on the goal.
Top Ten: Four Oilers forwards are in the top ten in the CHL in scoring. Adam Pleskach is tied for seventh in the league with 12 points while Ben Gordon, Todd Robinson, and Brandon Coccimiglio are all tied for tenth with 11 points apiece.
On The Plus Side: Through the first 11 games of last season, the Oilers cumulative team rating was -31. This season, the Oilers are +33 as a team through 11 games.
