Arizona Sundogs News Release

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs have announced roster changes as they look to create a winning team and break their eight game losing streak.

Earlier today the Sundogs made the decision to release forwards, Darcy Verot and Damian Surma. Verot has played in eight games with the Sundogs this season, with a plus/minus rating of -2 and received 14 penalty minutes. Damian Surma registered two goals and one assist in 10 games.

Sundogs Head Coach, Kevin Colley expressed, "We needed to make changes to find the right mix of youth and experience." Colley continued by saying, "These decisions are not easy but with our record and our standard as an organization to win hockey games, change was inevitable. There is a tremendous support group in Arizona through ownership and fans that we are committed to winning."

In turn the team has decided to re-sign forward, Johan Ryd who had been invited to the Sundogs training camp earlier this season. Ryd played in 48 games for the Sundogs last season and posted six goals and 15 assists for 21 points. Ryd also played four years with St. Norbert College where he collected 37 goals and 61 assists in 90 games before joining the Chicago Express of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) for three games.

Also, joining the team in a trade from the Denver Cutthroats is defenseman, Michael Trebish, for future considerations. Trebish has put up three assists in nine games for the Cutthroats this season. The 6-foot-1, Yorkton, Saskachewan native also played for Denver last season where he tallied three assists in 19 games and played in five post-season games before the Cutthroats were eliminated in the opening round. In 2012-13 Trebish played for the former Central Hockey League (CHL) team the Bloomington Blaze where he saw action in 39 games and posted seven assists.

"We've added Mike Trebish who we believe can play big minutes and really tighten up our defense zone, while the return of Johan will add positive work ethic and speed.", said Coach Colley.

The Sundogs will face the Denver Cutthroats on Tuesday at the Denver Coliseum for a single game before heading to St. Charles for a pair of games.

The Arizona Sundogs are the Central Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes. Season tickets, mini-plan, and single-game ticket information is now available by calling (928) 759-6600 or visiting arizonasundogs.com.
