Oshawa Generals News Release
Generals captain Ty Tullio scored twice and added an assist as the Oshawa Generals move to 14-11-1-2 with a 5-2 victory over the Sudbury Wolves.
The win was the Generals fifth in their last six games, as the climb up the Eastern Conference standings continued.
Brett Harrison opened the scoring 15:23 into the 1st period after receiving a pass from Daniel Michaud in the slot for his 16th of the season.
David Jesus scored shortly after on the powerplay to make it 2-0 for the Generals heading into the 1st intermission. The goal was just his second of the season, but his head coach believes there could be more offence to his game moving forward.
"He's a past first guy, but he has an incredible shot," Todd Miller said about Jesus post-game. "We always tell him to use it more, and tonight he did and got rewarded for it."
With an assist on the Jesus goal, newly acquired forward Cameron Butler recorded his first point as an Oshawa General after being dealt here last Monday.
Halfway through the second period, captain Ty Tullio made it a 3-0 game with his 13th of the season. Stuart Rolofs earned an assist on the goal, as those two continue to develop some great chemistry together.
Late in the second period, goaltender Zachary Paputsakis collided with Sudbury forward Giordano Biondi. He would finish the period in the net but didn't return for the final frame as Patrick Leaver finished the rest of the game.
In the third period, Sudbury did get on the board with goals from David Goyette and Jack Thompson; however, Oshawa would also get tallies from Ty Tullio and Ryan Gagnier to make it a 5-2 game, and that's how this one would end.
With his three-point performance, Tullio now has 41 on the season and is just one point away from 150 in his OHL career. With 10 points in his last four games, few players right now are as hot as the Generals captain.
"His work in the defensive zone has been amazing, and it's leading to more offensive zone time," head coach Todd Miller said about Tullio. "Once he's in the offensive zone, he's dangerous from anywhere, and his confidence is sky-high right now."
The Generals next game will be on Friday night, as the Hamilton Bulldogs make their first visit to Tribute Communities Centre since November 28th.
