The Harrisburg Senators took a 7-0 lead after three frames then held on for an 8-5 win over the Akron RubberDucks Sunday afternoon in Akron. Akron was eliminated from winning the first-half title with the loss. Harrisburg worked 13 walks in the game to go with nine hits in tallying their seven runs. Akron rallied late, scoring a run in the seventh and four more in the eighth but that's as close as they got.
Alex Troop earned his fifth win with six scoreless innings of work. He struck out eight and didn't walk a batter. Alberto Guerrero allowed a home run in the seventh. Edgar Garcia faced four batters in the eighth, walking two and allowing a solo and three-run home run. Brian Gonzalez faced four batters in relief of Garcia and retired two along with walking two. Andrew Lee earned his first save of the season by retiring the final out of the eighth and then finishing the ninth.
Andrew Young doubled twice with the first one driving in two runs in the second inning. Jecksson Flores drove in two with a single in the second, capping the Sens four-run second inning. John Nogowski drove in two with a double in the third, and a third run with a sacrifice fly in the ninth. Along with the double, Young also singled in the game. Wilmer Perez singled twice and scored a run.
Harrisburg won the final two games of the series keeping Akron from clinching the Southwest Division championship. The game took 4:21 with a 1:20 rain delay with two outs and two on in the bottom of the eighth inning. The second half of the season begins Tuesday night with a 6 p.m. start in Altoona.
