
Trio recalled from IceGators

Lafayette, LA â The Houston Aeros have recalled defenseman Ben Storey, rookie center Ed McGrane and goaltender Frederic Cloutier from the ECHL's Louisiana IceGators, the teams announced today. Storey, McGrane and Cloutier are expected to be available for tonight's 7 p.m. Aeros game against the San Antonio Rampage.
Storey, 26, (6/22/77) ranks third on the IceGators with 56 points (18g â38a) in 61 games. He started the 2004 ECHL All Star Game and won the hardest shot competition. Storey is tied for the ECHL lead with 39 power play points, and his 18 goals tie him for the league lead among defensemen.
  This is Storey's third recall of 2003-04 to the Aeros. In five games, Storey has one assist and two penalty minutes. He was reassigned to Louisiana last Saturday, March 20, after being called up March 11, while the IceGators were in Charlotte, NC. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound native of Ottawa has also played in the AHL for Hershey, and one post-season contest for Utah. Storey played collegiate at Harvard.
McGrane, 25, (5/4/78) ranks seventh on Louisiana's team with 43 points (18g â 25a) in 43 games, after opening the season with 21 points (14g â 7a) in 19 games with CHL Corpus Christi .
This is McGrane's third recall of the season to the Aeros. In three games, he has one assist and six penalty minutes. The helper came in his AHL debut, December 3 in Utah. Overall, in his three stops, McGrane has 65 points (32g â 33a) in 65 games. McGrane, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of Hamilton, Ont., played four seasons at UMass-Lowell.
Cloutier, 22, (5/14/81) has a 20-8-2 record, a 2.34 goals against average and a .919 save percentage in 31 games for the IceGators. He started last month's ECHL All-Star Game, his second such appearance in his three-year career. The 6-foot, 180-pound native of Ste. Honore, Quebec, was 4-3-2 with a 2.46 goals against average in 12 appearances last season for Houston before a wrist injury ended his campaign. Cloutier was the 2001-02 ECHL Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year and Goaltender of the Year.
This is also Cloutier's third recall of the season. Cloutier is 0-2-0 with a 4.60 goals against average in two games with the Aeros this season. Cloutier was originally recalled from Louisiana January 22 and was sent back to the IceGators January 28. His most recent recall happened February 5, and he made one start during this stint, allowing four goals on 39 shots in a 4-3 loss in Milwaukee February 6.
The IceGators play a two-game series with the Gwinnett Gladiators today and tomorrow at the Cajundome. It is Fan Appreciation Weekend at the Frozen Swamp. The IceGators are giving away season tickets, signed memorabilia and other prizes. Saturday's game is at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday's tilt will start at 4:05 p.m.
