Peoria, Ill. (March 27, 2004) – Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that sixth-year goaltender Mike Valley has been called up to the Hartford Wolf Pack – the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the NHL's New York Rangers.

Valley – a 6-foot-1, 185-pound native of Richmond, British Columbia – just returned Friday from a call-up with the Manitoba Moose – the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, serving as a back-up goaltender in two games. He will join Hartford for its Sunday afternoon road game against the Lowell Lock Monsters; this is his fourth call-up to the AHL this year and the third in the past 23 days. With Peoria's AHL affiliate – the Worcester IceCats, the 27-year-old netminder registered a victory in each of his two earlier one-game call-ups, posting a 1.95 goals against average (GAA) and a .913 save percentage.

Valley has posted a 20-8-7 record in 37 games for the Rivermen this season with a 2.28 GAA and a .915 save percentage. He has notched the first 20-win season (22) of his career and has three shutouts with Peoria this season, giving him 10 during the regular season on North American soil.

Valley left the University of Wisconsin after his sophomore season (1997-1998) to sign with the Canucks, spending parts of his first two seasons with their former AHL affiliate – the Syracuse Crunch.
