The Moose Jaw Warriors are pleased to announce that 19 year old forward Jason Bast has been named captain for the 2008-09 season. Entering his 4th full season with the Tribe, Bast has become a fan favorite both on and off the ice and has won the Fans Choice Award for two consecutive years. "Bast has been a steady and responsible player for our hockey club since joining our organization as a 16 year old," commented Warriors General Manager Chad Lang. "He demonstrates a strong work ethic and has the respect of his teammates and continues to lead by example."
The Warriors are also pleased to announce that 19 year old forward Joel Broda and 18 year old defenseman Travis Hamonic have been named Assistant Captains for the 2008-09 season. "Joel and Travis also have shown great leadership qualities. "Being selected in this year's past NHL draft demonstrates both Joel and Travis' commitment and dedication to not only our program but the game itself."
"All three individuals have been with our organization and understand what it means to be a Moose Jaw Warrior both on and off the ice," Lang continued. "We have standards and expectations and we believe these three individuals will help continue to guide our hockey club as we strive to reach or goals both on the ice and in our community."
