Tri-City Travels to Sioux Falls for Back-to-Back Games

Sioux Falls, SD. - Following a 5-1 road win last night over the Des Moines Buccaneers, the Tri-City Storm travels to the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, SD for back-to-back battles this weekend against the Sioux Falls Stampede. Hunter Strand produced his fifth multi-goal game of the season for the Storm in last night's win. Matthew Knies, Carter Mazur, and Gavin Brindley also scored goals in the game. Todd Scott improved to 18-8-1-1 in goal after stopping twenty of Des Moines' twenty-one shots on net. Puck drop for tonight's game is set for 7:05pm CT.

Tri-City (26-13-2-1) holds a 3-2-1-0 record against the Sioux Falls Stampede in head-to-head matchups this season. Two weeks ago, at the Viaero Center, Tri-City recorded two wins over Sioux Falls to complete a weekend sweep of the Stampede. The Storm's only road victory this season against the Stampede came on February 5th in a 5-4 overtime decision. Tomorrow's game will be the final meeting between the Storm and the Stampede in this season's eight-game season series. The Storm is 10-8-2-1 against the Stampede in head-to-head meetings over the past five seasons. Tri-City is 2-5-1-1 during that span in game's played at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. Last night, Tri-City improved to 18-3-0-0 when leading after the 1st period and 22-0-0-0 when leading after the 2nd period. The Storm is also now 16-9-1-1 when outshooting its opponent after last night's 5-1 road win. Scoring leaders for Tri-City entering tonight's road game against Sioux Falls include; Carter Mazur (19), Hunter Strand (18), Ben Schoen (14), Cole McWard (13), Rhett Pitlick (11), and Mark Estapa (10). Mazur leads all Storm players with eight points against the Stampede through the first six games of this season's eight-game series.

Sioux Falls (18-24-3-1) enters tonight's game as the sixth-place team in the USHL's Western Conference standings. The Stampede trail the Sioux City Musketeers by nine points for the 4th and final playoff spot in the conference standings. Sioux Falls hits the ice tonight following a 5-0 road loss to the Sioux City Musketeers at the Tyson Events Center on Wednesday. It was only the second time this season that the Stampede have been shutout in a game. Including losing both games to the Storm at the Viaero Center on March 19th & March 20th, Sioux Falls has now lost five of its last six games played. The Stampede's only win during that span came at home on March 27th against the conference-leading Fargo Force. Scoring leaders for Sioux Falls entering tonight's home game against the Storm include; Cole Sillinger (21), Michael Citara (16), Daniel Russell (13), Luke Toporowski (13), Brent Johnson (11), and Will Dineen (11). Sioux Falls is 10-10-2-1 in home games played to this point in the 2020-2021 regular season.
