Tri-City Storm Sign Colby Ambrosio to Tender

The Tri-City Storm announced the signing of forward Colby Ambrosio of Welland, Ontario to a tender agreement for the 2018-2019 season. Ambrosio is committed to Boston College and will be eligible for the 2020 NHL Draft.

Now in its seventh year, the USHL tender process allows teams to sign up to two 2002 birth year players prior to the 2018 USHL Phase I Draft, which takes place on May 7.

Ambrosio is the second tender signing for the Tri-City Storm this season, joining defenseman Ruben Rafkin, who was tendered on January 5th. The signing of Ambrosio will replace the Storm's second round draft choice in the 2018 USHL Phase I Draft.

Ambrosio, 15, of Welland, ON skated in 64 games this season with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres 16U program. Ambrosio netted 35 goals and added 33 assists to the Jr. Sabres offense.

"Kearney has a very similar feel to my hometown of Welland, Ontario. Although it's 19 hours from home, I felt at home as soon as I got here. I enjoyed meeting Mr. Brooks, Mr. Lowe, and Coach Noreen and like what this Storm organization has to offer," said Ambrosio. "Coach Noreen had a lot of good things to say and is definitely a player's coach. As soon as I got here and went into the locker room, all of the current Storm players shook my hand and made me feel at home. It was a surreal feeling for all of the players to introduce themselves and welcome me to the Storm organization. I'm a team player and believe that you will never be able to get to where you want to go without working hard. I'm a hard working player who will bring a positive attitude and dedication to this team. I believe that this coaching staff has the tools to make me a successful player in the USHL and will help me to achieve my dreams."

"From the first conversation I had with Colby, I could tell very quickly that he was our type of player," said Tri-City head coach and GM Anthony Noreen. "He is an extremely driven, mature young man and that's a testament to where he comes from and how he was brought up. Colby is an electric, elite, player with high end talent who will fit perfectly on our team."

Ambrosio becomes the third player signed to a tender for the 2018-19 season, joining Rafkin and Chase Bradley ???????(Omaha Lancers).

The Storm's signing of Ambrosio marks the third tender signed in Tri-City since the process began in the USHL prior to the 2012-13 season, joining Rafkin and current University of Notre Dame defenseman Tory Dello, who helped the Storm capture the 2016 Clark Cup.
