Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
A two-run advantage slipped away from the Tri-City Dust Devils (18-18) on Saturday night at Gesa Stadium as the team lost 6-2 to the Hillsboro Hops (18-18). With two games remaining in the first half, the Dust Devils loss combined with Spokane's win puts the team in a tie for first place in the Northwest League's North Division with two games remaining.
Chris Baker doubled to score Buddy Reed to bring home the first run of the game in the fourth inning. Tri-City had a chance to pounce on the Hops in the fifth inning. The Dust Devils loaded the bases with no outs, but were limited to only one run out of the opportunity by Hillsboro.
Things went south for Tri-City in the sixth inning. After cruising through his first two innings of work, reliever Braxton Lorenzini allowed three runs to the Hops, giving them a lead they would add on to throughout the evening.
The crucial series continues on Sunday night for the Dust Devils. Right-hander Emmanuel Ramirez will toe the rubber for Tri-City. The Hops will counter with right-hander Tyler Mark. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. It will be Poster Giveaway Night presented by the Tri-City Herald. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
