Tri-City Drops Game Two to Jackals

LITTLE FALLS, NJ - Following Friday night's loss, the Tri-City ValleyCats looked to bounce back in game two of the weekend series, and work towards a series win.

The 'Cats pounced out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Frontier League All-Star Brantley Bell would get Tri-City into the hit column with a double, before scoring on a Denis Phipps single, one of Phipps' three hits on the night. The Jackals would tie it up in the third on a sacrifice fly.

The ValleyCats would once again be bitten by the big inning in the 4th, with the Jackals tallying five runs in the frame, 4 of which came via a Santiago Chirino grand slam. The Jackals would tally two more in the eighth on an RBI triple by George Bell Jr to make it an 8-1 game.

Tyler Krabbe would lead off the ninth by drawing a walk. After a Mitch Piatnik strikeout, Joey Campagna would line a single through the left side of the infield for his second hit of the night. Thomas Kretzler and Pavin Parks would both strikeout swinging for the second and third outs of the inning, sealing a Jackals win.

The ValleyCats and Jackals face off tomorrow before heading to the All-Star break.
