
Tri-City Drops Final Game of Preseason to Lincoln

Lincoln, NE. - The Tri-City Storm dropped to 4-0-2-0 in the preseason following a 3-2 overtime loss to Lincoln Friday night at the Ice Box in Lincoln, NE. The Storm picked up 10 out of 12 possible points in the USHL preseason standings and finished play in the 2018-2019 preseason as the 1st place team in the USHL.
Lincoln scored the game's first goal halfway through the 1st period to take a 1-0 lead in the game. Tri-City's Joe Berg netted his 2nd goal of the preseason at 15:26 of the period to tie the game at 1-1. The game's opening 20 minutes finished with a 1-1 tie between the Storm and Stars with Lincoln outshooting Tri-City 17-6 in the 1st period. After one goal for each team in the 1st period, Tri-City and Lincoln combined for two goals again in the 2nd period. Lincoln took its 2nd lead of the game at 5:26 of the 2nd period off of a goal from Caleb Rule. The Storm's Ian Murphy tied the game up at 2-2 later in the period at 17:13. The goal from Murphy was his 2nd of the preseason and was assisted by Colby Ambrosio. Tri-City and Lincoln entered the 3rd period in a 2-2 tie.
After no goals were scored in the 3rd period, the final game of the Storm's preseason went into overtime. Lincoln's Josiah Slavin ended the game less than a minute into overtime with a goal assisted by Declan Carlile. The Stars evened up their preseason record at 2-2 in the win, and will conclude the preseason tomorrow against Omaha.
After picking up four wins in the preseason, Tri-City now looks ahead to the start of the regular season at the 2018 USHL Fall Classic in Cranberry Township, PA. The Storm faceoff against the Youngstown Phantoms at 4:00pm CT on Thursday in the season's opening game.
