Sioux Falls, SD - Andre Lee's goal 1:55 into overtime lifted the Sioux Falls Stampede to a 4-3 victory over the Fargo Force Saturday night at the Scheels IcePlex in the final preseason game of the year. The Herd rallied from a 3-2 third period deficit to take the game and finished the preseason with a 2-2-1 mark. Lee finished the night with two goals for the Herd while Anthony Romano assisted on the game tying and game winning goals. Jaxson Stauber stopped 20 of 23 shots in between the pipes.

The previous night in Fargo saw these teams battle all the way to overtime and that close play continued early on Saturday night at the IcePlex. The Herd grabbed the first goal of the game at 10:37 when Andres Lee broke through the slot and wristed a shot that was stopped by Fargo goaltender Matthew Sankner, but the rebound bounced to Cade Borchardt who knocked home his second of the preseason for a 1-0 lead. The Herd outshot the Force 11-8 in the period and took that 1-0 lead into the locker room.

The Force would tie the game just 1:42 into the second, shorthanded, off a turnover in front of the Stampede net. AJ Drobot wristed a shot past the stick side of Jaxson Stauber to make it a 1-1 game. It didn't take the Stampede long to regain the lead however, as Artem Ivanyuzhenkov scored just 19 seconds later when his centering pass attempt deflected off a skate and into the net for a 2-1 advantage. The Stampede would that lead heading into the third and final frame, outshooting the Force 26-14.

Fargo got things rolling early in the third period with two quick goals to take a 3-2 lead. Hank Crone scored just 20 seconds into the period to tie the game for the Force. Seconds after the goal Ivanyuzhenkov got into an altercation with Tamirlan Gaitamirov of the Force that resulted in Fargo going on a two-minute power play. The Force would only 19 seconds of it as Crone struck again when he jammed in a loose puck in front of the Stampede net for a 3-2 advantage. It remained that way until the final five minutes of regulation when the Stampede tied the game on a goal from Andre Lee. Anthony Romano played the puck through the slot to Lee who wristed a shot into the net to make it a 3-3 game and eventually force overtime.

For the second night in a row the Herd and Force would head into overtime, but this time it would be the Stampede coming away victorious. It took the Stampede just 1:55 into overtime to win the game when Romano and Lee connected again. Romano skated his way past the Fargo defense and inside the left circle before sending a perfect pass across the slot to Lee who one-timed the puck past Ryan Bischel to lift the Stampede to victory in their final preseason game of the season.

The Stampede outshot the Force 13-8 in the third and 33-23 on the night. Sioux Falls went 1-for-9 on the power play while the Force were 1-for-3.

Sioux Falls will now have trim their roster to 23-players on Monday prior to the start of the regular season. The Herd open the regular season in Pittsburgh at the 2018 USHL Fall Classic on Thursday when they square off against Central Illinois at 7 PM.
