Tri-City Defeats Everett In Shootout, 4-3

Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips were unable to complete a hard fought comeback against the Tri-City Americans Friday night losing in overtime, 4-3. First star of the night Clayton Cumiskey had a three point night (2G, 1A), while Scott MacDonald rounded out the scoring for Everett. Alexander Pechurskiy stopped 40 Everett shots to pick up the win for Tri-City. Thomas Heemskerk made 23 saves for the Silvertips.

Tri-City scored the first goal of the game after Patrick Holland netted his 14th of the season at 17:27. Holland beat Heemskerk on a backhand, from the right circle, that fluttered into the net for a 1-0 Americans lead. Tri-City led in shots 11-10 after 20 minutes of play.

The Americans increased their lead to two at 1:09 of the second period. Brendan Shinnimin scored directly off a faceoff in the Everett zone with a quick shot making the score 2-0. The Silvertips led in shots 26-20 after the second period.

Cumiskey brought Everett within one goal at 1:08 of the third period. Collecting a loose puck to the left of the crease, Cumiskey controlled the puck before beating Pechurskiy low blocker side to make the score 2-1. Cumiskey tied the game at 14:58 with his fifth goal of the season. MacDonald made a great pass to Cumiskey in the slot before the Everett forward beat Pechurskiy low blocker. Everett took its first lead of the game at 18:28 with MacDonald's sixth of the year. Macdonald collected a loose puck in the slot before going five-hole on Pechurskiy for a 3-2 Everett lead. Pechurskiy was pulled with 1:24 left in regulation. Tri-City scored with 31 seconds left as Shinnimin jammed home his second goal of the night to make the score 3-3 at the end of regulation.

The game was still tied after overtime sending both teams to a shootout. Kruise Reddick scored the game winning goal in the shootout to give Tri-City a 4-3 win.

This brings the ‘Tips record to 40-19-3-2 with 85 points in 64 games played. The Silvertips come back to Comcast Arena this Saturday night when Prince George comes to town for a 7:00 pm puck.
