Boise Hawks News Release
BOISE, Idaho - A pair of first inning home runs held up for the Tri-City Dust Devils, knocking off the Boise Hawks by a score of 3-2, before 2,895 fans at Memorial Stadium.
Tim Wheeler led off the game with a long drive over the right-centerfield wall and following a single by Orlando Sandoval, Kevin Clark launched a two-run shot to right, giving Tri-City the 3-0 lead.
Boise would rally, getting a Greg Rohan solo homer in the second and a Logan Watkins RBI single in the fifth to get within 3-2, but the Dust Devils bullpen retired 15 of the final 16 batters on the night.
Rob Scahill got his first professional win for the Dust Devils, with Rod Scurry picking up the save with a 1-2-3 ninth, as Tri-City picked up their 10th win in 11 games vs. Boise.
The Hawks pen was solid, as Robert Whitenack tossed three shutout innings, with Josh Lansford and Corey Martin each throwing two shutout frames.
Tomorrow night closes out the regular season, as the Hawks send Jon Nagel to the mound at 7:15 p.m.
