Yakima Bears News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Yakima Bears (28-47) took advantage of some sloppy Spokane defense to take down the Indians (36-39) 5-2 in front of 4,577 fans at Avista Stadium Saturday night.
Yakima scored two unearned runs, capitalizing on two Denny Duron throwing errors, in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. Spokane then tied it up in the third inning on a two-out, two-run homer by Washington State product Jared Prince out to left center. The Bears then took the lead in the fifth inning on an Alberto Puello throwing error, before tacking on two insurance runs in the eighth.
Dan Taylor (5-1) tossed five innings, allowing two runs and striking out seven to pick up the victory. Brian Budrow pitched two perfect frames to finish the game and notch his sixth save in six chances. Ben Henry (2-5) pitched 4 1/3, allowing three unearned runs to take the loss.
With the win the Bears match their 2008 win total with one game to play.
Yakima and Spokane will play the season finale Sunday night at 6:35. Randy Hamrick will battle for the Bears against Trevor Hurley for the Indians.
All 76 games can be heard on KUTI 1460 AM and are also available streaming via the internet at www.yakimabears.com.
