Trevor Plouffe Set to Begin Rehab Assignment with Red Wings on Monday

(Rochester, NY ) - Minnesota Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe, sidelined by a concussion and strained calf since May 22, is expected to begin a rehab assignment with the Rochester Red Wings on Monday night when the Wings host the Toledo Mud Hens at Frontier Field, the club announced today.

Plouffe was hitting .254 with four home runs and 17 RBI in 37 games with the Twins before suffering a concussion trying to break up a double play on May 21. He was placed on the 7-day disabled list and reinstated on May 29. A day later, the 26-year-old went on the 15-day disabled list after suffering a left calf strain prior to the Twins May 30 game against the Brewers.

The West Hills, Calif. native hit .261 with 46 home runs and 181 RBI in 339 games over parts of five seasons in Rochester from 2008-12. Last season, Plouffe appeared in two rehab games with the Red Wings as he returned from a thumb injury.
