ROCHESTER RED WINGS GAME NOTES

Toledo Mud Hens (24-40) @ Rochester Red Wings (29-34)

Frontier Field - Rochester, NY - 1:05 p.m.

RHP Shawn Hill (0-7, 6.38) vs. RHP Kyle Gibson (5-5, 3.34)

TONIGHT'S GAME: The Wings look to bounce back in game two Sunday after an 8-1 series opening defeat last night to the Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers) in front of the largest crowd of the season at Frontier Field... Still, the Wings have won 9 of their last 13 games and with Pawtucket also losing last night, Rochester is still just 7.5 GB of the Paw Sox and in 4th place in the IL North... Toledo, despite owning the worst record in the IL at 24-40, has now won a tied for season-high 4 straight games and 8 out of 11 overall. Last night's win was just the 8th road win of the season for the Mud Hens (8-25)... No other IL team has less than 13 road wins.

GIBSON GOES: The Wings hand the ball to RHP Kyle Gibson on Sunday in game two of the series. He is 3-0 with a 2.48 ERA (8 ER/29.0 IP) over his last 4 GS. Gibson, who is one of just 2 pitchers in MiLB (T. May) and one of 5 pitchers in all of baseball (T. May, B. Colon, J. Masterson, A. Wainwright) with 2 CG-SHO's on the year, shutout the Mud Hens in his only start against them this season on May 8 at Fifth-Third Field (9ip, 4h, 2bb, 8k)... His 63 strikeouts rank T-4th in the IL

HOLY TOLEDO: After bashing four home runs last night and limiting the Wings to just 6 hits (all singles), the Mud Hens are now 3-2 against Rochester this season after the Red Wings swept the season series, 8-0, in 2012. The Mud Hens, ranked 2nd in the IL with a 3.66 team ERA, have limited the Wings to just 14 runs over the first 5 games (2.8 R/G) of the season series as Red Wings' hitters are batting just .213 (40-for-188) with 50 strikeouts against Mud Hens pitching... On the other hand, the Toledo offense, ranked last in the league with a .244 team average and second to last in runs scored, has fared much better against the Wings scoring 28 runs (5.6 R/G) and hitting 6 homers in the first five games.

-The duo of Jordan Lennerton and Nick Castellanos are hitting a combined .348 (16-46) with 3 HR and 9 RBI vs ROC this year.

MR. PINCH-HIT: Brian Dinkelman drew a bases-loaded, pinch-hit walk in the 7th inning on Saturday to plate the only Red Wings run of the night... In six appearances as a pinch hitter this season, Dinkelman is 2-for-4 with a home run, two walks and 4 RBI. In fact, he is the only Wings pinch hitter this season to record an RBI.... He delivered a two-out, pinch-hit, game-tying home run on 5/31 @ CHA in the top of the 9th inning. It was the first pinch-hit homer by a Wings player since Dustin Martin on 8/8/11 at Durham and the first of Dinkelman's career.

-Dinkelman and Ray Olmedo are a combined 4-for-6 in PH spots, while the rest of the team is 1-for-19 pinch hitting.

BACK TO THE BIGS: Chris Colabello's roller-coaster ride of a season continued this week as the Wings slugger has been summoned back to the Big Leagues for the third time in the last 19 days after never playing above the double-A level prior to 2013. With the Twins playing a doubleheader today in Washington they were able to expand their roster to 26 players. Over his first two stints with the Twins this season Colabello is 2-for-15 in six games... Colabello, who started the first 46 games of the season for the Wings and was leading the IL in several offensive categories prior to his first call-up on May 22, has had just 29 at-bats between Rochester and Minnesota over the last 18 days.

MORE ABOUT LAST NIGHT...:

-The Wings 4-game home winning streak was snapped with the 8-1 loss.

-Rochester lost their 8th game to an IL West team this season (5-8)... Last season, the Wings went 24-8 against the IL West.

-Dinkelman's 8-G hitting streak and 9-G run streak were both snapped in the defeat.

-The Wings allowed a tied for season-high 4 home runs... Virgil Vasquez allowed 4 in his first start of the season on 4/7 vs BUF.

WINGIN' COMPLETE-GAME SHUTOUTS : Albers' CG-SHO Friday was the 5th by a Red Wings pitcher this season -- the most of any team in all of baseball (MiLB & MLB). The only other team to have as many as four this season is the St. Louis Cardinals... The Wings have tossed 5 of the 28 (18%) CG-SHO's in the minor league's this season and are the ONLY team in the IL to have a pitcher toss a CG-SHO... Down in New Britain, RHP Trevor May has two CG-SHO's this season meaning Twins' farmhands have accounted for a quarter (25%; 7 of 28) of all CG-SHO's in the minors this season.

-Prior to this season, Rochester pitchers had tossed a total of 5 CG-SHO's over the last four seasons.

-The last season the Wings threw at least 5 CG-SHO's was 2007 when five pitchers combined to toss six CG-SHO's.

-Rochester is on pace to toss 11 CG-SHO this season the most since the 1980 season when they also had 11.

BUTERA BACK: Red Wings catcher Drew Butera was reinstated from the disabled list Friday after missing 60 games with a broken left hand. Butera was hit by a Ramon Ortiz fastball on the first pitch he saw this season in the Wings second game of the year in Buffalo on April 5. Butera hit .279 (12-43) in 15 games with the Wings at the beginning of last season before being promoted to Minnesota on May 1 where he would spend the rest of the season... Batted .198 (22-111) with a home run and 5 RBI in 42 G.
