Moosic, Pa. - The Buffalo Bisons (Triple-A/Toronto Blue Jays) scored all four of their runs in the first inning, and held on to defeat the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (New York Yankees) on Sunday afternoon, 4-1. Dave Bush had his start moved up two days, and worked six scoreless frames to earn his seventh win of the season.

Bush (7-4) allowed just two hits over his six innings, and at one point he retired 16 RailRiders in a row. He struck out five and did not walk a batter, as he lowered his earned run average to 4.23.

The Buffalo first inning began with an Anthony Gose strikeout, but Ryan Goins followed with a double to right field. He was driven home by Luis Jimenez, who now has 54 runs batted in, which leads the International League. Mauro Gomez followed with a home run to left field, it was the reigning IL Most Valuable Player's 16th home run of the season. Jim Negrych then doubled, and scored on a single by Ryan Langerhans. The Bisons led 4-0.

The Bisons held that 4-0 lead until the bottom of the ninth when SWB attempted a rally. Zoilo Almonte led off with an infield single, and moved to second when Ronnier Mustelier drew a walk. Dan Johnson then grounded into a fielder's choice, Almonte was out at third, but his slide forced Negrych's throw to go wide of the bag at first. Mustelier advanced to third base on the play. He scored when Josh Bell hit a sacrifice fly to left field, but the RailRiders would get no closer.

Chris Bootcheck (5-2) received the start for SWB, and was very effective after allowing the four runs in the first. Following that frame, Bootcheck held Buffalo to five hits, and finished the game with five strikeouts. Matt Daley tossed scoreless eighth and ninth innings, and recorded four strikeouts.

Buffalo has earned at least a series split, and they'll play the RailRiders in game three of their series on Monday night. Hot dogs at PNC Field will be just one dollar all night long, and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. David Huff (3-1, 3.62) will get his first start as a RailRider, and will be opposed by Chad Jenkins (0-1, 9.00).
