Carolina Cobras News Release

GREENSBORO - Jacksonville Sharks wide receiver Trevor Kennedy (6'0", 205) will be joining the Carolina Cobras for the 2019 season.

While playing only seven games for the Sharks in 2018, Kennedy was able to produce 27 receptions for 341 yards and ten touchdowns, with 115 yards and three of the touchdowns coming against Carolina in last year's semi-final matchup. Kennedy will bolster an already loaded Cobras wide receiver core.

Prior to his time in Jacksonville, Kennedy played with the Spokane Empire of the IFL during the 2016 and 2017 seasons, where he was awarded the IFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2016 after compiling 1,613 all-purpose yards and scoring 237 points total. Kennedy has also spent time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL, as well as training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers of the NFL.

Kennedy, while excited at the prospect of joining Carolina, has enjoyed playing for the Sharks. "[It was] great being in Jacksonville, their fans are amazing and getting a chance to play under Coach Burley really taught me about myself as a player," says Kennedy. "I'm just looking forward to the season and helping the Cobras try and get another championship."

Head coach Billy Back, too, is excited to maximize Kennedy's skill. "TK is a dynamic playmaker, and I mean dynamic! We saw it first hand in the IFL when he was with the Spokane Empire with Coach Shack," Back exclaims. "Just getting the football in his hands has got to be a priority. If a team knows how to use his abilities right, then the sky is the limit with him. We have already started adding little wrinkles that will make things interesting in 2019."

Originally from Akron, Ohio, Kennedy attended Firestone High School, where he played quarterback for the football team. Following high school, Kennedy continued his football career while attending Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania.
