Trayvon Robinson Competes In Triple-A Home Run Derby

Albuquerque Isotopes outfielder Trayvon Robinson was one of eight competitors that took part in Monday night's Triple-A Home Run Derby at Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City, Utah. With âTopes manager Lorenzo Bundy pitching to him, Robinson hit two homers in the first round, but they were not enough to help him advance into the second round.
The contest was won by Stefan Gartrell of the International League's Gwinnett Braves, who defeated Utah high school slugger Kayden Porter (Spanish Fork HS, Spanish Fork, Utah), 7-5, in the finals. Now, the focus shifts to the 2011 Triple-A All-Star Game, in which Robinson and âTopes pitcher Dana Eveland will compete for the PCL All-Star squad managed by Bundy. The game will be nationally televised on MLB Network Wednesday night at 7 p.m. MT, and can also be heard locally on KNML-AM, "610 The Sports Animal."
Following the All-Star Break, the Isotopes will head to Nashville for a four-game set against the Sounds that starts Thursday, and then return home on Monday, July 18 to begin an eight-game homestand against division rivals Oklahoma City and New Orleans that is highlighted by Dukes Retro Night (July 23).
