Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, TN - On Friday, July 15th the Memphis Redbirds will hold a fundraiser night for the family of Memphis police officer Timothy Warren who was killed in the line of duty on July 3. The Redbirds play a doubleheader that night. First game starts at 5:05 PM. Gates open at 4:30 PM.

"This was an unimaginable tragedy and as part of the Memphis community we want to do our part to provide assistance to the Warren family. Officer Warren was truly a hero and helping his family is an honor," said Ben Weiss, General Manager of the Redbirds.

The Redbirds will donate $1 from every ticket purchased for Friday's game to the Warren Memorial Fund set up at Regions Bank. That $1 will be tripled because corporate partners, AutoZone and Fundamental Advisors, LP have both pledged to match the Redbirds' donation to the Officer Tim Warren Memorial Fund. The Redbirds will be accepting additional donations at the game from fans. Various items will be up for auction as well with proceeds going to the Fund. The game will start with a moment of silence to recognize Officer Warren's ultimate sacrifice for the City of Memphis.

"Not only had Officer Warren frequently served on duty around AutoZone Park on game nights but he was also a Redbirds fan." said Weiss. "The Redbirds and the downtown community will certainly miss his presence."

The Redbirds are also proud to announce the following corporate partners have pledged support of this fundraising effort: Budweiser of Memphis and Hand Family Companies, King Cotton, First Tennessee Bank, Pugh's Flowers, US Foodservice and WellWorx Sporting Clubs. If you are interested in partnering with the Redbirds please contact Adam Goldberg at 901-722-0245.
