Trax pull off First Trade of the Season
January 15, 2004 - SPHL (SPHL)
Macon Trax News Release
[Macon, Ga.]âIt will not go down as a blockbuster trade, but it will be counted as Tommy Stewart's first trade as a head coach. Defensemen Bobby Clouston and Steve Howard have been sent to Miami for future considerations.
This past weekend Coach Stewart brought in two new defensemen to the current roster. Matt Brown and Andrew Dickson dressed for the first time and impressed their new coach.
"These moves make room on the roster and will get us a good player down the road." Stewart said, "A change in personal was needed and hopefully this wakes up the team showing no roster spot is safe."
The Manatees are getting two players that they can use right away. Clouston is known for his leadership and hard work on the ice. In 20 games he scored 10 points (2G, 8A) and posted a team high +12 rating.
The other defenseman going south can help the Manatees offensively. In his past two seasons Howard has played in 78 games scoring 11 goals and 26 assists.
The Trax return to action with three games on home ice this weekend. Great ticket specials are available for all three games. Friday, Jan. 16 is Literacy Night and Saturday, Jan. 17 is Military Night. Puck drops at 7:35 pm and both games are against the first place Jacksonville Barracudas.
Sunday the Trax will host their biggest rival, the Alabama Slammers. Puck drop is at 4:05 pm and it is another "Blowout Sunday." All upper level tickets are only five dollars. Tickets for all Trax games are available by calling 478-742-4849 or stop by the Trax office located at the Macon Centreplex.
